Lesson 2 of Madani Qaida:

Lesson 2 of Madani Qaida starts with the Arabic alphabet. The Arabic alphabet consists of 28 letters, which are written from right to left. In this lesson, you will learn the pronunciation and writing of the first four letters of the Arabic alphabet.

The First Letter of the Arabic Alphabet:

The first letter of the Arabic alphabet is "alif". It is pronounced as "aa" and is written as a straight line. The second letter is "baa". It is pronounced as "b" and is written as a small loop with a line attached to it. The third letter is "taa". It is pronounced as "t" and is written as a small loop with two lines attached to it. The fourth letter is "thaa". It is pronounced as "th" and is written as a small loop with three lines attached to it.

Short Vowels:

The lesson also covers the concept of Harakat (short vowels) and Tanween (double vowels). Harakat are the short vowels used to make the pronunciation of the words clearer. Tanween is the use of double vowels to indicate that the noun is indefinite.

There Are Three Words of Harakat:

The three Harakat are "fathah", "kasrah", and "dhammah". Fathah is pronounced as "a", kasrah is pronounced as "i", and dhammah is pronounced as "u". Tanween is represented by two dots placed above or below the last letter of the word.

Elongation of Certain Letters:

The lesson also teaches the concept of "Madd", which is the elongation of certain letters. Madd is of two types: "Madd-e-Asli" and "Madd-e-Leen". Madd-e-Asli is the elongation of the letter itself, while Madd-e-Leen is the elongation of the sound of a vowel after the letter.
